The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) is the leading international academic organization in the field of production and operations management. Since its inception, it has been dedicated to promoting global academic research and practical innovation in production and operations management. As smart manufacturing and digital transformation continue to evolve, exploring how to leverage emerging technologies to innovate and develop within the realm of production and operations management is crucial for the sustainable growth of the global economy.

In 2018, authorized by the POMS board, POMS International Conference in China was initiated by four mainland Chinese universities: Tianjin University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, and the University of Science and Technology of China. Following the successful organization by Tianjin University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Zhejiang University, the 2024 POMS International Conference in China will be hosted by the University of Science and Technology of China, aiming to further facilitate in-depth exchanges and collaboration among domestic and international scholars in the fields of smart manufacturing and innovation management.
